Weeds: What Actually Works

You can’t block a living system and expect it to work.

If you have weed fabric and rock in your yard—and it’s not working—you’re not doing anything wrong.

It just doesn’t hold up long-term.

It’s meant to stop weeds and reduce maintenance, but over time weeds grow on top, roots can’t spread, and water and air stop moving through the soil the way they should.

So the system underneath starts to break down.

A few years in, it’s harder to fix—everything is layered and compacted together.

A better approach is to let the soil function naturally. Healthy soil, natural mulch, and plants growing together will always work better over time.

If you do one thing: skip weed fabric and let the soil breathe.
